With the Colts successfully completing the  2011 “suck for Luck” campaign, the flood gates are now wide open for a discussion about where Peyton Manning will play in 2012. The Colts have Manning under contract and set to receive 28 million dollars for the season.

Where will Peyton Manning play in 2012?

Typically, signing a 36 year-old Quarterback to a 28 million dollar contract after sitting out a whole season with a neck injury would be considered a disaster waiting to happen. But yes, this is Peyton Manning, the Ultimate Field General. But, who can afford him and where will Peyton want to go? If the Colts do intend to part ways with Peyton Manning, they will have to do so by March 9.

To answer the question of who will be able to make a move to get “the Sheriff,” as John Gruden likes to call him, you have to look at which teams have cap room, who has problems at the Quarterback position, and who has a solid team for Peyton to lead.

Where will Peyton Manning play in 2012? Could be…

The New York Jets would make for an amazing story – two brothers competing in the same city, and the Jets defense to go along with a stellar offense lead by Peyton. Instant Super Bowl contender, right? Trade Mark Sanchez, and unite Rex with his Man Crush Peyton Manning. New York fans can dream right?

The Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team, and will never go anywhere as long as Tony Romo is leading the ship. The time for Jerry Jones to step up and do what it takes to win would be now. But will he? If he tried to court Bill Polian, then that might be a sign of the times to come. This would be a match made in heaven:  America’s team signing America’s Quarterback. Will it happen?  Don’t bank on it. Jerry Jones loves Tony Romo and wants to prove himself correct in that Tony was the greatest thing to ever happen to him and the Cowboys.

Oakland Raiders… Yeah, not going to happen. They just traded two high draft picks for Carson Palmer. I would be willing to bet that might have had something to do with Hue Jackson getting fired.

Anyway, back to the topic where will Peyton Manning play in 2012?

The Arizona Cardinals have recently failed miserably with the Kevin Kolb experience. The Cardinals are built to win, and Larry Fitzgerald would take his game to a whole new dimension with Peyton throwing him the ball. Did I mention the weather in Arizona is almost perfect in the winter?  It also has beautiful homes for Peyton to live in. The Arizona Cardinals’ stadium is one of the TOP stadiums in the NFL to play. This would be a good move if the Cardinals can afford it.

The Kansas City Chiefs have the money, they have the market, but why in the world would Peyton want to play in Arrowhead after Thanksgiving? That place is one nasty frozen tundra in the winter months. The Chiefs have some decent Quarterbacks in Orton and Cassell, but nothing close to Manning’s level. Dewayne Bowe, Steve Breaston, and Jon Baldwin would thrive with Manning wearing the Arrowhead.

How about the Indianapolis Colts? They still have a chance right? Umm No not likely Jim Isray has said enough, lets not go here.

The Seattle Seahawks sure do have a strong fan base with the twelfth man, but do they have the money? Can they make room and restructure to get the “great one”. Don’t bank on that either.

The Denver Bronco have a chance to get Peyton but have already committed to Tebow. I don’t see Elway going back on his promise here.

The Jacksonville Jaguars? Yeah, not the place Peyton wants to go.

The Miami Dolphins are in a position to make a run at Peyton, and it would be a good match. But Brandon Marshall’s mouth might just be enough to keep Manning from even thinking twice.

The Washington Redskins are ripe and ready for a win. They can’t seem to find a Quarterback for the life of the franchise. Daniel Snyder is known to spend money, and lots more money. So why not go ahead and pull the trigger and bring in the older Manning? The nation’s capital would have a real reason to fill up that stadium.
